GAWU distributes Bursaries
The Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union (GAWU) distributed twenty-three (23) bursary awards to its members’ children, who qualified at the National Grade Six Assessment Examination. The successful recipients were all children of employees, who GAWU represents in the entire sugar industry, Demerara Timbers Limited, the Demerara Harbour Bridge Corporation and the BEV Processors Inc, among other entities.
Out of the twenty-three (23) recipients, Bibi S. Khan and Sangeeta Persaud tied with the highest marks. Sursattie Seosarran, Leon Bailey, Omanai Joseph Duncan and Marcia Stanton secured double awards as a result of their parents being members of the Union’s Credit Union.
Over the past years, the union has been awarding the best performing children of GAWU’s members at the National Grade Six Assessment Examination. The Union wishes to congratulate the successful students and their parents and to encourage them to continue studying hard and to strive for greater successes as they enter secondary school in the new school year.
GAWU is proud to award the bursaries for it is indeed an encouragement for the students to continue their studies and to recognize their success at their examinations. We also wish congratulate the parents and urge them too to continue their supporting role to their children’s education and future development.
