15th Credit Union AGM this weekend

The Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Co-operative Credit Union Society Limited (Reg. # 2000) convenes its 15th Annual General Meeting on (Sunday) November 23, 2008 at Enmore Hope Primary School, Enmore, East Coast Demerara, commencing at 09:00h.

Significant numbers of members of the Society from among the Union’s bargaining unit at: the Sugar Industry Labour Welfare Fund Committee (SILWFC), Guyana Sugar Corporation Inc. (GUYSUCO), Houston Estate, BEV Processors Inc, Noble House Seafoods and the Guyana Forestry Commission (GFC), are expected to be in attendance.

The reports of the Management and the Supervisory Committees since the last AGM which was held on December 9, 2007 to the period September 30, 2008, are expected to stimulate discussions. A number of resolutions will also engage the attention of members.

Members attending Annual General Meeting usually look forward to approving the share of the surplus which will be disbursed as dividend payments and interest rebates. For years 2004, 2005 and 2006, the surpluses were $16.9 million, $19 million, and $17.6 million, respectively. This AGM will distribute the profits for 2007 after the approval of the Audited Statement.

The last item on the Agenda of the AGM, will be the elections of an eleven- member Committee of Management and a three-member Supervisory Committee to manage the affairs of the Society until the next Annual General Meeting in 2009.
