GAWU awards Bursaries

The Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union (GAWU) will on Saturday August 25, 2007 at 09:30h present its now traditional bursary awards to its member’s children who qualified at the recent National Grade Six Assessment Examination.

Twenty-six (26) students, children of GAWU members from sugar estates throughout the coastal sugar belt, from Demerara Timbers, the Harbour Bridge and the BEV fishing company, among other entities whose employees GAWU represents, will receive their bursaries at simultaneous ceremonies at GAWU Headquarters and at the New Amsterdam Branch Office.

The East Demerara, LBI Estate worker Sheik Mobeen is sure to be proud that his daughter Mariam tops the group of bursary winners with 553 marks.

More boys are among the awardees and a few winners would receive double awards by virtue of their parent being a member of GAWU’s vibrant Credit Union also.
